We have missed quite a few of the church picnics this year for one reason or another, but we did go to the Moulton picnic. As recalled, this is one church picnic that we have never attended, so it was a good treat to go to this one.
N sent us a news release from the Weimar paper that indicated the picnic (food) would begin at 10:30, so we decided to aim for that time, and we did, arriving at about 10:45. Parking was easy at the KC hall grounds, and we walked right on into the serving line. Food consisted of beef stew (sans vegetables) fried chicken, the ever present green beans, sauerkraut, cooked potatoes, (on the variety of german potato salad, but not quite-no vinegar), tea, and bread. Got it all for $9. Oh, and tea and dessert too.
Also, but no photo, we found the old, now out of business, mesquite wood sellers place off the mainstreet. I wonder where he is now, he said at the time (15 years ago) that the oils from the mesquite wood were affecting his health. It appears to have been shuttered years ago.

By the time we were finished with our meal, the hall was pretty much filled up as lots of people arrived from having finished their church services in the adjoining communities.
Inside the hall, besides all the seating for those eating, was a silent auction, the serving lines, the dessert table, so you can see the hall was very large. This is the silent auction table.
The photo above is just a small section of the areas for eating.
This was the cake walk, a chance game that has been around for centuries, it seems. Outside was a plant walk.
Here is a photo of the Czech band playing music and singing in Czech language. Seems as if Bill should know some of these players. Unfortunately we did not get the name of the band, it seemed to be nowhere around their trailer or truck.
Random shot of people chatting and renewing friendships. Standing near the Plant Walk, we were listening to an older Czech or German accented fellow, and his response to his wife, who had just walked up to show him the plant she had just won at the Plant Walk. He said "Ve already have too many plants".
Back in the downtown area of Moulton, we could not resist the chance to photograph the old Moulton bar. Not sure if it is still operating or not. The old general store next to it does appear to have shut its doors forever.

It was good getting back to Moulton and seeing this old town.
